With summer vacation fast approaching, many high school students are eager to plan their summer employment. Our Time Press caught the photo above of the 350 or so young people aged 14 to 24 who were lucky enough to have their applications picked by lottery from the 19,000 who applied to the NYC Summer Youth Employment program. The teens were waiting outside the Police Athletic League Wynn Center in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, for their summer job assignments.
Anthony Saunders, 15, explained his aspirations to Our Time Press:
“I hope I get a job working with kids or interning at a law firm,” he said. “I want to be a criminal defense lawyer because I like to defend people.”
